Hello Missy,

Thanks for joining me today on Night Owl Romance.

Tammie King of NOR: To get us started can you please start by telling us a little about what you are working on or have coming out?

Missy Lyons: I have recently started working on writing with a writing buddy, and after working on Cowboys Don’t Dance together, we tried to make a short Christmas romance with a fun little threesome. This short story has evolved into something much larger and longer than anything we anticipated. Elvis made an appearance and it will probably be novel length before we are through. Elvis Makes Three is the working title, but it may change as time goes on. Elvis makes Three is not currently contracted through a publisher.

Kurt will do anything to get Lynne the present she really wants for Christmas, but when she confides in him that she wants Elvis in her bed, he isn’t sure how he can make it happen. Fate smiles on them, and they attend an Elvis impersonator contest. Lynne chooses her favorite Elvis to take home for a night of explosive sex. When her private sex video leaks out to the public on the internet, it makes Lynne an underground porn sensation. She loses her job and gains a stalker, and her whole world is turned upside down. If the men in her lives can’t get over their petty jealousy issues and agree on who should be the one to protect her, she may just end up dead.

Tammie King of NOR: Could you please tell us a little about yourself?

Missy Lyons: I currently lead a double life as a soccer mom and loving wife, just outside of Nashville, TN. I love to go hiking and fishing in the beautiful forests and state parks. I love to travel, and see the world when I have money and time. Which seems too far in between for me and it’s a nice to take a mental vacation to exotic locations in my writing. I have always loved to hear a good story, so it was natural for me to begin writing.

Tammie King of NOR: If you could be one of the characters from this book – Who would you be? And why?

Missy Lyons: This is a tough question, but I think I would choose Denise from Bound by Desire. She thinks she knows what she wants in life and has always been a strong minded independent woman, until she meets Victor and discovers a side to herself she never knew was there. I admire her courage to explore her sexual needs and desires to be dominated.

Tammie King of NOR: Who or what influenced you when you wrote this book? Did you have a CD, Songs, environment, etc?

Missy Lyons: I have a CD of Elvis Christmas songs I have been listening to, including the Blue Christmas song that is sung during the competition at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge in Nashville. It doesn't hurt to live here. I was able to visit a couple places my characters did, including The Sushi Bar downtown, the Hard Rock Cafe, Music Row, and the Music Hall of Fame.

Tammie King of NOR: Can you please give us a sneak peek into the book?

Missy Lyons: In Cowboys Don't Dance there is a scene that planted a seed for the sequel.

Something is hunting and killing off the cattle one by one on the ranch. Jesse suspects it is a pack of wolves and vows to protect his livelihood. He asks every cowboy on the ranch to carry a gun at all timmes to protect themselves, but no one is prepared to find werewolves.

Tammie King of NOR: What would you like to tell your readers?

Missy Lyons: First off, I need to say thank you for everyone's support and feedback. If it wasn't for my reaaders I would not have continued to write or gotten this far. So, thank you.

Tammie King of NOR: What would be the best way for readers contact you? Do you have a website? Email address? MySpace site? Blog? Message Board? Group?

Missy Lyons: I probably have a few more sites than I can realistically keep up with right now. I think my favorite place to hang out is Facebook or my blog right now, but here are some of those places you can find me.

Tammie King of NOR: When did you first decide to submit your work? Please, tell us what or who encouraged you to take this big step?

Missy Lyons: My dear friend and critique partner Dahlia Rose encouraged me to submit my Christmas story Naughty or Nice. I got a Rejection at first but then I revised it to be double the length and changed the ending and resubmitted. I was thrilled when I got my first acceptance and you can now find this short story available through Whispers Publishing. It was because of Dahlia's support and encouragement that I have done so well. Dahlia Rose has gone on to become a succesful romance author and began Sugar and Spice Press last year. Most of the romance authors I have met are very sweet and love to help teach other authors how to succeed. It feels like a second family sometimes.

Tammie King of NOR: What is the best advice you have ever received?

Missy Lyons: I think the best advice I recieved is you need to write to be a writer. You have to glue your butt to the chair and finish the story in your heart or it will never get written. Even now that I have books out, the best thing I can do for my career is to continue to write and put my stories out in the world. People will somteimes discover your older books because of a new one you wrote.

Tammie King of NOR: Do you outline your books or just start writing?

Missy Lyons: I usually work within a very basic outline. My characters sometimes surprise me with little things but I usually have a beginning and an ending in mind before I start.

Tammie King of NOR: Who is your perfect hero? And why?

Missy Lyons: I don't have a prefect hero. I think I love the stories best where the hero is made to be a better person because of the woman they love. They grow as people and really aren't whole without the heroine.

So the heroes I admire most aren't even pretty on the outside. I think JR Ward's books are some of the best examples of the type of hero I love most.

You can see this in my book A Warrior's Woman. At first Kona wants only power from the union, but then as time goes on, he can't see living a life without Kivra. He needs her because he has fallen head over heels in love with her.

Tammie King of NOR: Is there a genre of book you would like to write but haven't yet?

Missy Lyons: I really would love to try to write a yong adult book. I would love to share my books with my children, and my neices and nephews. It's something I have been thinking about for quite some time, but juts haven't made a pritority since I have been enjoying the romance stories so much.

Thank you for this opportunity!
