Purchase Vegas Style by Cheryl Dragon - Out 1/11/2008Author: Cheryl Dragon

Hello Cheryl,

The girls of Night Owl Romance are pleased that you have granted us an interview

We would love to get to know you.

Could you please start by telling us a little about yourself?

I’ve been writing for several years and found my fit with erotic romance (in several sub genres such as contemp, paranormal, bdsm, m/m and pure erotica) and psychic suspense.

Writing so much definitely keeps me out of trouble! I work in accounting during the day. In the evening I’ll be writing with my TV on for background noise. I’m a TV junkie! From Ugly Betty to Monk…The Closer to Saving Grace…I love storytelling in all forms :)

Purchase Black on White By Cheryl Dragon- Out 2/27/2007I hear that you have quite a few books coming out in the next year. Can you tell us what you are writing and where to get your books?

So far I’ve got 6 Ellora’s Cave releases scheduled for 2008. I’m working on projects for Loose Id’s 2008 lineup right now as well as my third psychic suspense for The Lotus Circle.

Currently I have two ebooks out with Ellora’s Cave available at: http://www.ellorascave.com/AuthorsBooks.asp?AuthorCode=CDra

And I have two ebooks available from Loose Id:

And I have two ebooks available from The Lotus Circle (and one in trade paperback):

You have quite a variety of topics that you write about. Where do you get your ideas and what’s the first thing you do when thinking of an idea? Do you write out an outline or just push start witting the story?

Purchase Sorority Girl by Cheryl Dragon - Out 12/25/2007Ideas are the easy part for me. I have a running list of ideas I’m going to write. When I have a new idea, I write out the basic premise and let it develop. Because I have so many ideas, I generally develop an outline of the plot, characters, and so on. Then I’ll file it and work it into the list of what I’m going to write. Ideas frequently get shuffled based on what’s working at a publisher, what’s popular, and what I’m in the mood to work on.

Can you please give us some sneak peeks on what you have been writing?

M/M has been the hot item and my first, Bad Brad, released with Loose Id in December but I’m working on two more…one includes a werewolf and the other includes a lot of tattooing.

In 5 years, where do you see yourself?

Hopefully continuing with the erotic romance and erotica at several houses. I enjoy what I’m doing and I’d like to keep on doing it and grow. I’d love to try my hand a pure mystery series one day!

Do you know if any of your books will be in print?

I’m Okay, You’re Dead, my first psychic suspense from The Lotus Circle is already available in print.

If someone asked you for advice on writing, what would you tell him or her?

Find out what you write well. Writers spend a lot of time figuring out what they do wrong but what’ll make you stand out and sell is focusing on your strengths and using them to your best advantage!

Purchase Bad Brad by Cheryl DragonIs there anyone special you would like to say thanks to? I know that to publish a book is a huge thing and there are many people involved. Who has been there for you along the way?

I’ve got to thank my crit partner, Joanna Waugh, who reads everything before my editors do and helps me find typos and clean up my draftsJ  And my fellow EC writer, MA Ellis who is always supportive and keeps me on task!

You write pretty spicy books, what or who encouraged you to start writing such sexy books?

I’ve got dirty mind :) yep, it’s that simple. I think the years of catholic school repression made for great rebellion and daydreams! Now I’m putting them to very good use.

Is there anything you would like to tell readers?

I truly write to entertain myself as much as everyone else. I love my genres and try to bring something new and unusual to each book. Not every genre is for everyone so read blurbs, excerpts and pay attention to any warnings so you don’t get something you’re not interested in. That said, be willing to try something new. I write for a two houses so you’re bound to find something that works for you! I love feedback so please let me know what you think.

What was your first published work and when was it published?

Purchase One Hot Experiment by Cheryl DragonMy first published work was I’m Okay, You’re Dead in April 2007. It’s the first in a psychic suspense series I’m working on. It’s the one series I do that’s NOT erotic!

What would be the best way for readers contact you? Do you have a website? Email address? MySpace site? Blog? Message Board? Group?

My website is www.cheryldragon.com and you can reach me through that or directly at cheryldragon@hotmail.com

Thank you for this opportunity!
